Most of you are well aware of affirmations, although some of you may be wondering if they really work, what’s the difference between just an affirmation and a positive affirmation, and how do you use them?
In answer to these questions: yes, they actually work and are incredibly powerful at that. In fact, you are currently using them in your life right now. Affirmations are simply the thoughts you think and the words you say. Affirmations “affirm” what you are thinking, whether it’s positive or negative. Positive affirmations ensure that only positive thoughts and words are impacting your mind.
Your goal is to start eliminating any negative affirmations, or thoughts, with positive and more desirable ones. Over time this will begin to make neural connections in the brain stronger, helping your mind to focus more adeptly on the things you want to draw into your life.
An affirmation opens the door for change, whether good or bad; so you need to choose wisely. When you say or think affirmations or beliefs, you are planting little seeds. You want to plant seeds of the things you want to draw into your life. Negative affirmations are like weeds that take over and prevent the good seeds from growing. Once you plant the positive seeds, nourish them with good thoughts and deeds throughout the day.
If you state or think about positive affirmations in the morning and then spew out negative thoughts and words all day long those positive seeds won’t stand a chance. If, however, you feed those seeds with kind and loving thoughts, words, and actions, they will flourish.
In other words, every time you let anger get the best of you, you are affirming that you want more situations in your life that make you feel angry. Every time you complain about something or someone you are affirming that you want more things to complain about.
Here’s where your power comes in. You are in control of your thoughts, words, and actions! It’s so exciting! You have the power to turn things around. Saying positive affirmations in the morning is a great way to start your day off on the right path, but what you do with the rest of your day is key to your success.
During the day keep your thoughts, conversations, and actions positive and you will be feeding your desirable seeds and helping them grow. If you allow anger or complaints to sneak their way in, you are feeding the weeds and keeping the things you desire out of reach.
So, think happy thoughts, think loving thoughts, think feel-good thoughts. You have a choice! Feel your power and watch how your life begins to blossom.
