Being able to change your attitude in an unchangeable situation will give you an undeniable edge in life. The question is; do you have that edge and if not how can you develop it?
Let me ask you this: when something goes awry in your life, what is your initial knee jerk reaction?
Do you immediately react in a negative way?
Do you look at the bad side of things and feel like everything always goes wrong?
Does the situation become another stone loaded onto the already heavy burden you carry on your shoulders?
If that’s you in a nut shell, then stop right there! You are giving your power away and tumbling down a relentless tunnel of anger, frustration, and fear!
How to change your attitude.
Success hinges on your ability to shift your attitude on a dime. Challenging things will happen, that’s a given, but how you handle those circumstances is the difference between success and feeling like things are spinning out of control; the difference between giving your power away versus being empowered!
Attitude is massively important to creating a life filled with success, achievement and happiness.
So, how do you change your attitude when you can’t change the situation?
One word! Perception my friend, perception! Changing your perception of any given situation will magically, and often times, miraculously alter your reality.
Take a look at how one extremely successful (and famous) man took a seemingly catastrophic event and turned it around simply by changing his perception:
How Thomas Edison changed his attitude in a dire situation.
Thomas Edison’s Laboratory
In December of 2014, a large destructive fire demolished Thomas Edison’s laboratory. To everyone who witnessed this event, all was lost!
Most of Edison’s work went up in flames on that fateful night.
When Edison’s son saw the fire he fearfully searched for his father expecting the worst. He found his dad among the smoke, calmly watching the fire engulf his life’s work.
His son was upset at the thought of his father, now 67, losing everything he had worked so hard to build.
However, the next day, Edison looked around at his burned laboratory and said to his family; “I have good news for you. This disaster has a great value because all of our mistakes are burned up. Thank God, we can start anew!”
Instead of collapsing in anguish and giving up, Edison chose to see this disaster as a fresh start; a way to begin with a clean slate so to speak. He took a dire situation, changed his perception, and continued on to be one of the most successful men of all time.
Change your perception, change your reality!
You have the power within you to do the same thing. Change your perception and change your reality. You can do this!
Watch how your life transforms when you begin shifting your perceptions one at a time to ones of positivity. Changing your attitude will have a profound affect, not only on how you begin to see the world, but also on how others see you, treat you, and interact with you.
You may not be able to change certain circumstances in your life but you can change how you see them.
Take your power back! Be empowered!
